Day 68: Payless Peril

Something is wrong with these shoes. They used to be a nice navy blue suede-type shoe, but now the material is wearing away and the shoes are sticky all over the outside. I guess the adhesive that made the outer layer stick to the shoe is working its way to the front in an effort to destroy my shoes.  I really need to stop buying cheap shoes. I wear them too often for that to be a wise financial decision. Where do you buy most of your shoes?

Day 67: Celebrating the future Mrs. Avallone

Alicia is getting married next month! I've been friends with Alicia for 10 years now, and she and Tommy are getting married in Jamaica next month. I'm very much looking forward to celebrating with her there, but it was fun to celebrate at her bridal shower in New Jersey this past weekend.  In honor of Alicia, this outfit had a little extra bit of shine than what I might normally wear. It was a challenge to style because the dress is enormously baggy, but you know my motto.  When in doubt, belt it.
Dress: Gift from Betsy, from Coco & Lolly
Belt: Francesca's
Shoes: Payless
Earrings: Three Sirens boutique

Here's my attempt at the bridal shower hat made of bows and ribbons from gift packaging. She wore it well! Photo courtesy of Shannon, the Matron of Honor.

Day 66: On my sister's clothes

I love to go for super long walks around the city, but it's hard to decide how to dress for it.  Comfortable shoes are the most important part, but I'm really not a huge fan of wearing sneakers when I'm not working out. What if I want to stop into a nice store or restaurant? Everyone else has such comfortable pairs of flats; I'm not sure what it is about my shoes or my feet, but I definitely don't.

I wore this to the grocery store, changed into sneakers for a walk to get my sister Betsy, and then came home and hung out with Betsy and Dave all night.  Dave's mom's recipe for tomato pie was delicious, and made a nice red splotch on these shorts.

Betsy realized how many of her clothes I have been wearing, and requested that I return some of them.  I should point out that she has a ton of my clothes, too. But I was happy to return some of her shirts, including this one. She took the shirt off my back, so then I changed into my "New Jersey: Only the Strong Survive" shirt and a tomato-free skirt.

Day 65: Red tunic and thoughts of summer

This weekend, I am going to try to take pictures of what I've worn and what I have yet to wear to give you a status update.  I am making progress, but I do get in my own way when I go out and buy new shirts like this one.

I got a little nervous on Labor Day because I still have a few pieces that are very summery.  I wasn't sure when I would be able to wear my flamingo dress or white top that doesn't layer well, but then it came to me! I have already started packing for Jamaica in my mind.  Alicia and Tommy are getting married there in October, and I am prepared.  I also have a few pieces in mind for my trip to Los Angeles later next month.  Hopefully I'll look as chic as I will try to be.

What should my donation policy be? If there is an item I don't want to wear, do I have to wear it anyway, or can I donate it to Philly Aids Thrift so it doesn't really count as a part of my wardrobe? Old Hanson t-shirt, I'm looking at you.

Day 49: Step Back in Time

I'm taking a sick day today, and while I'm wearing a dress I haven't worn yet since the project started, I am not prepared for a picture.  I don't want to leave you without a picture, though, so I bring you this flashback to the evening of August 24.  I do owe you several outfits, so they will pop up occasionally, when I feel like having an extra photoshoot and put on worthy outfits I've worn already but not photographed.

Day 63: Should I wear this today?

Doesn't it seem like only certain people can pull off this mixing prints trend? I understand the basics of keeping the pieces in the same color family and having a common thread, but when would I ever take the risk? How about when I have a top like this geometric-print one, which I've only ever worn with black pants and a black tank top? I think the colors work, but I was nervous about it this morning, and packed an extra black cardigan just in case I felt like I couldn't go through with this.  What do you think? Would you wear this outfit?

Day 62: Blue Dress, Dreary Day

Dave's mom gave us some heirloom tomatoes this weekend, and my mom gave me some heirloom scarves and earrings.  There is a lot of potential in these scarves!

Um, how are we going to take these pictures when the weather gets colder? In a few months, the walk to work will surely not be so lovely.

ps. To compensate for this frizzy hair day, the scarf did double duty and acted as a headband shortly after this photo was taken.
