Day 140: Lindsay from the block

Happy Thanksgiving Eve! Are you going out in your hometown tonight? My hometown doesn't have a bar, but I do know where to go if I wanted to find everyone who went to my high school.  Instead, I'll be out in Philadelphia tonight, where anyone I bump into will be from more recent years of my life. Then tomorrow morning Dave and I will head to his cousin's house up on the mountain in Maryland for a meal with his family.  With family in Maryland and New Jersey and us in Pennsylvania, we're generally able to spend time on or around the holidays with each side. I know we're pretty lucky!

A special shout-out to Mom and Old Navy for this one:

Day 134: Edging toward edgy

You may know by now that I have a new philosophy on pants, and that is...I don't really believe in them. Skirts and dresses almost always look more pulled together and are more fun, and are more flattering on me, at least.  But cold days sometimes call for long pants, and loose-fitting shirts sometimes call for tightly fitting pants, so I just bought this pair of black pants from target.com.  They're pretty tight, but I promise they're not leggings.  Before today, the only pants that I had that were snug enough at the ankle to wear with boots were jeans, so I'm excited to wear boots to work now whenever I want, whether I'm wearing a dress, skirt, or pants.

If you've been following along since the beginning or have just found my project today, I want to thank you so much for reading my blog and judging my outfits! I have way more readers than I anticipated I would after a few months of blogging, and you all have kept me motivated to always wear something different.  I surely wouldn't be wearing short sleeves outside (or at all) today if it weren't for all of you!

Day 106: Fully clothed lady

I'm definitely a bargain hunter and never buy anything full price. But if I saw this top on sale at Anthropologie, I would consider buying it if it were about $40 or less. I really do love this shirt. Instead, it was at Target, and on sale for $18. Even though it sounds crazy, that seemed like so much for a sale price of a shirt at Target, so I almost considered putting it back. I'm glad I didn't! The jacket is my original Anthropologie piece. Margaret gave it to me for Christmas about 8 years ago, and it has come a long way since then. This is what I was wearing when I met the Barenaked Ladies in 2003.  That story used to be my favorite thing to talk about, but you guys might not even know that I interviewed them for the newspaper when I was in high school. Then I got free tickets to see them perform with Gavin DeGraw and I met them backstage! Fun times.

Day 76: Black and green

This is about as close to camouflage as I will ever wear. No camo capris for me! Like I've said before, I really only know how to wear black shirts with jeans, but I mixed it up a little bit today for your sake.  When I checked the weather this morning, it said it was 63 and sunny, when in fact it is warmer and rainier than that.  So this outfit was poorly planned for the weather, but I threw on a leafy velour jacket that got me through some similar weather in England and Ireland in 2007.

Day 69: Still Summer

Before dinner at 10 Arts last night, Dave and I popped into Gap to find a pair of sunglasses for him. Instead, we left with pants, shorts, and a top for me. I can't help it; the sales were great! And they were all on the list of items that I actually really need. Take these pants, for instance. Won't they be perfect for our travels to warmer climes next month? I probably settled on this outfit because I have been thinking about our hotel in Santa Monica, which I found out about on Cup of Jo.  I have a business trip to Los Angeles planned for next month, and since it overlaps with our birthdays, Dave is coming with me and we're turning it into a fun mini-vacation.

I don't usually feel very feminine in a polo, but this scarf saves the day!

Day 62: Blue Dress, Dreary Day

Dave's mom gave us some heirloom tomatoes this weekend, and my mom gave me some heirloom scarves and earrings.  There is a lot of potential in these scarves!

Um, how are we going to take these pictures when the weather gets colder? In a few months, the walk to work will surely not be so lovely.

ps. To compensate for this frizzy hair day, the scarf did double duty and acted as a headband shortly after this photo was taken.

Day 60: A Longer Purple Dress

Even though I didn't have Maryland crabs this summer, I had the most delightful dining experience on Sunday. Rebecca has always talked about taking Dave and me to Woodberry Kitchen in Baltimore, but we didn't make it there until this weekend. Rebecca and Dan were in Minnesota, but we went to brunch with Dave's parents, and what a brunch it was. So charming, so fresh, and so memorable. The attire there is "casual elegant", which sounds like my favorite kind of category, but I didn't prepare adequately for it as I packed, which means that I stopped for this maxi-dress on the way to brunch.  Not to be confused with this purple dress, today's has a pretty lace overlay on the back, which I'll have to show you another day.  These pictures were taken outside of the restaurant.
